God
is pretty big. Yeah, He created every thing
we see, and everything we don't see, but is that the only reason we are
here? Just
to look and see that there is a big God, then die?
God knows He is God. He doesn't need to be reminded. But He created
everything
for a reason, and that was to show His Glory. He created man to see His
Glory,
but God wasn't satisfied. He wanted man to experience His glory.
So God was living with man. Literally. God lived in the same place, in
a
garden, and they would talk together. They would walk together. It was
very
good. In fact, it was perfect.
Man thought he knew better than God, when God said not to eat from a
certain tree.
Man had it perfect, but he tried to make it more perfect. So he ate
that fruit.
Ever since then, everything has been broken. Man has completely fallen
apart,
and needs to be fixed.
God didn't want it to stay like that though. So He created a system of
temporary
atonement by animal sacrifices. He had man make a beautiful box (called
the ark
of the Covenant) that God lived in. God wasn't satisfied with this,
though. Animal
sacrifices couldn't wash away sin. There had to be a permanent
sacrifice. So
God sent what was most dear to Him: His only Son. He sent His son,
called
Jesus, to the earth to die for man. God's glory was once again among
man,
although it was masked by human flesh. Man didn't want God's glory
here, so God
allowed man to kill His Son, for God's glory.
Jesus died on a cross, a cruel horrible cross that became the blazing
center of
the glory of God because of what it did: it allowed God and man to be
united. Because
Jesus never sinned, He was the only one able to pay the price for sin.
God accepted
this payment for sin, and thus anyone who accepts this payment can be
saved,
and not go to hell.
Think of it this way: you are in a court of law. The evidence is laid
out, and
you are clearly guilty of first-degree murder, stealing, and many other
horrible
crimes. You have one plea to make to the judge. You say, "Judge, I know
I
have done wrong, but you are a good judge, and because of that, you
will let me
go." will the judge do that? No! If the judge is a good judge, he can't
let you go. He must see that justice is served.
The same with God. God is a good God. Because you have sinned (click
here to see if you have) God must punish you. You must pay
the fine.
Go back to the court scene. The judge says you must pay 1 Million
dollars to go
free. You say that you are broke, and can't pay it. Just as they are
leading
you out to go to jail, someone you don't even know runs in, and pays
your fine
for you. The judge accepts the payment, and you are set free. You
didn't pay
it, but because someone did, you are free to go.
Jesus did that for you. You owed a dept that you couldn't pay. But
Jesus paid
it for you, and because He did, you can go free. But you still have to
accept
it.
Jesus wants to save you from your sin. Otherwise, you will spend
eternity in a
place called hell. Click
here to find out what hell is like. God doesn't want that. If
you repent
(turn away from your sin), and ask God to save you, and believe that He
will,
God will save you. Cry out to Him. He is listening.
